| Letter
from the Chairman
2009 has been another active year for the Darien Technology & Community Foundation. As we move into our second decade as a catalyst for great ideas and projects, we continue to be proud of the work that we do. Our mission to support capital and technology projects benefiting the citizens of Darien is apparent throughout the town. The map featured in this annual report visually illustrates the reach and impact of our grants. These grants help make Darien the strong and vibrant community that we all know and cherish.
This year we awarded grants to Person-to-Person's Helping Hands capital campaign, the YWCA and to all five of the Darien public elementary schools. Our ongoing technology classes for school and community volunteers, held in the fall and spring at the Darien Library, continue to be popular and productive. Grants from previous years are visible throughout the town: the new Playground by the Sound at Weed Beach, the town of Darien website, baseball and softball scoreboards at Darien High School, and the Power Library at the new Darien Library are all evidence of the work of the DT&CF.
We could not accomplish the things we do without the generosity of people like you who believe in a dynamic and robust community. Your continued support is crucial to our future success – please give generously!
Sincerely,
Ward Glassmeyer
